Homemade coconut macaroons that are sweet, moist, and chewy on the inside with a delightfully crisp exterior are definitely irresistible treats.

Krishna and Salve Jane, owners of Krisaljane’s Pastries based in Brgy. Plaridel, about 14km south of downtown Baybay are passionate in baking. As certified sweet tooths, they’re fond of experimenting new recipes. They take baking inspiration from the internet and cooking shows on TLC and Lifestyle Channel; their kids love pastries too!
It all started as their hobby right in their home and baked several pastries for the holidays and special occasions. I personally tried their sweet delights like their old-fashioned Butterscotch Cake and it’s wonderful. The level of its sweetness is just right!—though my personal favorite is the Classic Coconut Macaroons which are really moist. I also tried their version of the all-time Filipino favorite snack, Palitaw (a sweet rice cake) with a sweet surprise—it has yema filling! Yum! Yema is a type of custard candy made from egg yolks and condensed milk.

Their Chicken Empanada is also a must-try and take note: it’s baked, not fried and the mix of spices is just perfectly-balanced. Chicken Empanada is a type of pastry originated in Latin-American countries that is stuffed with chicken meat, potato, carrots, and sweet peas. Because it’s baked, it gives the crust a more flaky texture.
They don’t have a physical store yet; they bake right inside their homes in Brgy. Plaridel. Don’t worry, you can arrange for a meet-up with them in downtown Baybay City.
